The following photo essay is drawn from material presented at the 1993 AIIA Youth Symposium, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, on April 8, 1993. "Though it may appear that we're blaming all social ills on evolution, it does logically follow that if evolution rules out a Creator, then there are no absolutes. If there are no standards or absolutes from a higher power, then one is free to do what he wants with sex. After all, we are nothing more than a higher form of animal life; and what animal do you know that abides by a set of standards for sexual behavior?" "As a pilot, I know the importance of knowing and following the operator's manual of a particular aircraft in order to have a safe and enjoyable flight. God's owner's manual for man (His creation) regarding sex is the Bible, God's Word. God is not against sex. He's for it. After all, he invented it!" "Public school sex education implies that sex is a survival need. Put a man and woman on a deserted island without food and water and you'll quickly learn what real survival needs are. It sure isn't sex!" "Those of you who think that your future will never be affected by what you do now with sex before marriage, have never heard of God's 'Spiritual Murphy's Law.' Moses said in Numbers 32:23, 'Be sure your sins will find you out.' Humanistically inspired sexual promiscuity leaves you, as a teen, empty. Life becomes confusing at best, meaningless at worst. You're still left hungry." "Evolution says 'You're an animal (the ultimate expression, of course!). Have sex when and however it best suits you.' God says 'Marriage is honorable and the bed undefiled.' Sex God's way not only brings joy and fulfillment, but you have the blessing of friends and family. And, would you believe it, they even give you gifts and a wedding cake! You won't get anything like that in the back seat of a car. Only fear and worry." "Then Tom said, 'Show me God and I'll believe in Him.' To that I responded, 'What would you accept as evidence?' He didn't know. I then asked, 'If you don't know what to accept as evidence, then how will you ever know when I'm showing you God?' He didn't know that, either!" "If you're sexually involved and want to be clean again and set free, but doubt that God will have you, I've got wonderful news for you. Isaiah 1:18 says, 'Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.' Any artist knows that changing pure red to pure white would take a miracle. That's exactly what God can do, and desires to do, in you!" RESURRECTION VALIDATION by Bill Forbes IV Bill Forbes IV is from Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, and a 1992 graduate of Cornell University. He is currently serving with the English Language Institute in the People's Republic of China. His remarks were also made at last year's rally. "During my first two years at college I was taught that all of my Christian beliefs and values were simply an expression of the sociocultural environment in which I had been raised. I was slowly beginning to wonder if my Christian faith was nothing more than a cultural tradition. Then I went on a missions trip to Czechoslovakia. When I returned to school, I began to think, pray, and read about Christianity and its validity. God used the writings of such authors as C.S. Lewis and Josh McDowell to show me that the Resurrection of Christ is an absolute fact that can't be refuted. I also learned that the Resurrection separates Christianity from all other major religions, and this too validated the truthfulness of Christ and His message. Even now, in times of personal trials or doubts, my faith rests on the fact of the Resurrection and the encouragement of honest Christian fellowship."
